Sean Dees
Software Engineer · Builder · Lifelong Learner
My path into software engineering didn't follow a traditional route. Like many developers, I started by teaching myself through online resources and hands-on experimentation. During that time, I spent months studying, building projects, and taking on freelance work to gain real-world experience. One of my first projects was building a website for a family member's non-profit, which became the foundation of my early portfolio and helped launch my career as a developer.
My first full-time role was as the sole developer at a large championship ring company. Being the only developer meant learning fast and solving problems independently. While that experience forced me to grow quickly, it also showed me the importance of working within strong engineering teams and learning from others.
Over time, I moved into larger teams and more complex projects, eventually working with global organizations and fast-paced engineering environments where developers are constantly exposed to new technologies and challenges. These experiences reinforced something I strongly believe: software engineering is a craft that never stops evolving.
What drives me most is curiosity — not just about how to build software, but why things are built the way they are. I enjoy breaking systems apart, understanding how they work, and rethinking how they could be improved.
